In light of the holiday season FAST approaching, I wanted to give my little take on a gift guide to give a little bit of inspiration.
I will be honest, this year has been kind of difficult to come up with ideas for gift giving. I try to put as much effort into buying the perfect gift for each person that is meaningful to them however, it sometimes is difficult moving away from generic gifts. And it’s not that generic gifts are bad gifts, I sometimes just get a little bit more excited when putting in the extra thought. And for me, it’s all about the thought, no matter size or price of the gift. Sometimes the perfect gift can be the smallest gesture.
PINTEREST is one of the easiest ways I find the gifts I want to purchase for my family and friends. I sometimes go on the app without even knowing what I am looking for but out of nowhere, it comes to me. The perfect gift.
So here I give you, my secret (not so secret) holiday gift guide:
For that friend who is obsessed with the aesthetic, it’s all about the pastels. Finding the perfect gift could mean the newest tote, or it could be the “it” girl care package. To fill the tote with some aesthetic knick knacks could be the perfect collection for the pop of color.
For that friend obsessed with living for the candids. The perfect moments. Capturing your best friends laughing. Or the moment of your favorite people smiling from ear to ear. DISPOSABLE CAMERAS. Their perfect, well-priced, and makes for the coolest candid photos ever.
For the friend focused on themselves. SELF-CARE PACKAGE. give them the opportunity for their own spa day. Or get them what they need to begin finding their inner energy. Yoga mats. Mindset books. Remind them that they are killing it and you support them on their self-love journey.
For the coffee-obsessed friend. Find them the PERFECT MUG. I am literally obsessed with filling my cupboard with the most colorful mugs ever. Despite wanting to have some sort of color palette, when it comes to mugs, I will collect every color and every pattern because each one is so unique in itself. Put in a Starbucks gift card, maybe some chocolates and you have yourself a really great gift.
For the independent friend who is a homebody. Help them make their space more homey. CANDLES. Get them a candle that reminds them of the holidays. sitting by the fire. drinking hot chocolate. in their pjs. That’s the picture I want. Fun fact; my family used to own a ski cottage and this moment was my favorite. Sunday mornings. Listening to jack johnson (one of the only albums we had) and this holiday feeling. All that from a small piece of wood burning wax. Gems and stones are another thing. I LOVE getting my friends gemstones that correlate to their personality and what I admire about them. Each gem has its own meaning so its perfect to find one unique to your friends.
For the friend into fashion. SUNGLASSES. the literal perfect staple item. or a really cool hoodie. Not only would you be supporting a small business, but there are some really cool brands that have cute sayings or logos. Get your friend a hoodie that they can wear with sweats or dress up for a fashion statement.
Now for the other part: MY WISH LIST
One of my favorite things is to watch gift guides/wish list tik toks or youtube videos to get inspiration for myself sometimes (it’s necessary). They give me my own inspiration for either gift ideas or future purchases. They are just so cute and I love them so here’s mine for you.
GRACE’S 2021 WISH LIST:
UGGS. I used to have them a couple years ago but I want the short ones that can be worn inside or outside. I think they are just necessary.
This one I didn’t add to my current wish list but I just saw it and am absolutely obsessed. I’ve been more into the subtle brown color when it comes to purchasing clothes and this vest is EVERYTHING. Plus North Face vests are getting the hype they deserve.
I want to focus on understanding deeper emotions and connecting with my friends in a way where we discover more about each other while discovering more about ourselves at the same time. WE’RE NOT REALLY STRANGERS. I’ve heard a lot about this game as I’ve been following the company for a long time. This picture was actually taken by my sister too cause she’s the coolest but I just wanted to put that out there.
I’m sure everyone knows about the Aritzia sweatsuits but those are also on my wish list. I want to find the perfect matching set and I think with another crewneck I will have it. They are so necessary especially for being in university and wanting to be comfortable 24/7.
I also want to find the perfect layering necklace. I love my minimal jewelry but I also want a cute layered necklace. So I’ve been looking at urban outfitters and they are always cute and not too pricey.
In the spirit of the holidays, I also wanted to talk about a recent commitment I have made as an executive member of my relay for life team at school. I was given the opportunity to apply and get an interview for the outreach position for relay for life. We are currently fundraising for each of our teams to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society and I wanted to reach out to you, my favorite community in case you are feeling in the spirit of donating this year. I will be sharing the link to donate to my team! All proceeds will go to the society in March! It would mean a lot to me and my team if you would consider donating!!
