little bit of this, little bit of that

HAPPY SUNDAY!

I don’t really have much this week to make a whole update blog on.

EXCEPT, I saw Nickelback this past weekend. And it was the biggest full circle moment ever. I just remember listening to this on my ipod nano or something years ago. But seeing them in person, it was just amazing and crazy and exciting. I was feeling all of the emotions. And that’s what I love about concerts; all of the emotion and even nostalgia that they bring out. Just a wholesome core memory made.

Other than that, I am figuring out my life again. At least a little bit. Just navigating through job searching, and the transition back to school, and living at home. I love August, but it is also a weird time. Just with summer coming to an end and then going back to school. There’s just a whole compilation of busy, and with me comes being mentally busy and pre-occupied with stress.

Lately I have been reflecting on goals and thoughts for the new school year. Moving into a new phase of the year always makes me think and reflect.

I find the school year a perfect time to try new habits, see what works and maybe what I can do to implement more balance to focus on wellness while also putting in the effort to be academically successful.

Current goals for the new school year:

  1. something about that sleep schedule – I have spent too much time thinking about what could be if I had a better sleep schedule. This is the moment I will actually try and do something about it. If I can change it for the better, I think it will be the biggest game changer in terms of reducing stress, feeling well rested, and increasing my mood.
  2. morning coffee + walk – I feel like this combo, with a good playlist of course, will help start every day on a good note. Despite having tough weeks, the consistency of this part of my morning routine will remind me to have this moment to myself to remove a little bit of stress before I tackle the rest of my day.
  3. reading – it’s essential for my fall era, and I have a big lineup right now of books that I have wanted to read. Getting back into reading as a form of self-care is important to me. But, it can’t be a totally forced process and instead, little by little, building up what I call my “reading stamina” for enjoyment. Especially with the courses I take, I fall into the habit of forceful reading in terms of getting through textbook content, while forgetting how much I enjoy reading on the side!
  4. movement – Seattle was amazing for all of the places I could hike and explore. There was always somewhere new to go, and I always had a motivation to just get outside. This is my goal for the new school year. To just get outside, even if it is just a short period of time, because I know these are some of the moments where I find myself at peace and relieved of stress.

I write these down because it’s important to continue reflection. Already having a solid routine is amazing, but there can always be small alterations to find more ways to balance wellness and self-care into everyday life.

I hope you are all doing amazing!

STAY KIND:)

with love
