HAPPY SUNDAY!
Today is day seven of my mental health challenge and I wanted to give you all an update on the start of the challenge! Today, my wellness task was catching up with friends and I was lucky to get the chance to do that today with my close group. We went downtown, did a little bit of shopping, and got coffee (see my Sunday shop series on Instagram to check out the coffee shop). It was seriously so nice for my mental health to be outside and with my friends talking and just having fun!
As for the other tasks of the thirty-day challenge this week, it’s been super beneficial for my mental health to be focusing on myself and getting creative with bringing some more positivity into my life.
Some reasoning behind some of my tasks:
- Waking Up Early: one of my goals to get up with the sun and have a steady morning routine where I don’t rush and can spend time and enjoy coffee and making a good breakfast and choosing an outfit for the day. As for the part about meditation, I find being more relaxed in the morning causes me to be more productive.
- 30 Minute Walk/Yoga: I’ve been out of the loop for exercising lately with the build-up of school but getting back into the routine reminds me how much I enjoy moving my body and enjoying time focusing on my physical health.
- Listen To Your Favorite Happy Songs: I had a goal a while ago to see how listening to happy music changes my mood and I find that seriously jamming out in the car can be therapeutic, especially if it is making me smile in the end.
- Phone Free Night: I ended up working that night however, it gives the eyes a break and lets you be more present.
- Pancake Day: For me, I wanted to challenge myself with a sort of “fear” food I guess you could call it. Long story short I had some challenges about a year ago in this area (maybe I’ll go into more detail another time) but I wanted to create a space of inclusion on this task and let you know that sometimes it’s hard to face things alone, so I wanted us all to understand and be with each other (mentally) and be kind to ourselves while stepping out of our comfort zone.
- Treat Yourself To Starbucks: I kinda do this anyway (because I am an addict) but I also wanted you all to treat yourselves too! We constantly work hard and overwork ourselves, and this little break in the day to treat ourselves to a coffee or any other preferred treat may just be the key to a productive rest of the day.
I’ve been able to focus more at the moment to truly being present and it has brought a lot more happiness to my week! Obviously, this journey has its ups and downs and it takes time to get used to doing things for you. Sometimes it takes a bit of adjusting but I think this challenge has many benefits and I know by the end, I (and hopefully you too) will have a new perspective and new goals for the future of self-care!
Anyways, I know that was short but I got last-minute school things to do!
Hopefully, you were able to catch up with a friend today, even if it was a few text messages to check-in with them:)
Stay Kind:)
