Self-Care Check In

I feel like it is about time I do a quick mental health check-in.

After being in university for almost three weeks I feel like I am drowning in an unnecessary amount of school work, so this check-in is kinda for me too.

I was scrolling through Instagram and saw this affirmation post (@wetheurban) and I have to share this quote:

Don’t forget to look around and appreciate the things that are going right as well – We The Urban

As much as things may get stressful or scary or challenging, remember there are also good things happening for you as well.

It’s normal to feel lonely. Don’t forget that there are more people in your corner than you realize – We The Urban

I’m finding it hard lately since this has been such an adjusting period for me. I feel lonely at times and then remember that I have met some amazing people and already have supportive people in my corner that I can turn to and lean on for help. I’m also finding it hard as I feel like I can’t catch up with any school, but then I have to remember that there are aspects that are going well, that are achievable and soon enough the groove will be there. I think it’s hard sometimes to remember that one downside does not mean everything is crumbling down around you even if it consumes you.

Some mindful activities for the day:

  • listen to a motivating podcast or one of your favorite playlists
  • write a letter to yourself (inspiring words, affirmations, goals)
  • Call a friend and chat (already did this one myself)
  • treat yourself to coffee
  • Go for a walk

It’s not a bad thing to take breaks in your day to relieve some stress.

I encourage everyone to take a moment and reflect if you are spending too much time focusing on the negatives or being consumed with the stress because once you realize that there are positives all around you, your perspective may change for the better.

STAY KIND:)
