Environment Talk

HAPPY SUNDAY

I’m gonna get right into this. Yesterday, my friend and I volunteered to do a cleanup of one of our conservation parks that was put together by my school’s environmental club. And let me say, in the end, I felt empowered. Not only did I feel like I was making a difference, but people who were walking or running were commenting on how we were doing something amazing and they were grateful for our community participation. It made me feel so great inside to pick up garbage but at the same time, it made me feel sad for how our parks and nature have been treated with littering. Of course, not everyone contributes but it blows my mind that some people cannot throw away their garbage. Especially since a lot of it doesn’t decompose… It’s a concern that we cannot fully care for our world. The amount of waste and garbage that is present is shocking and the poor treatment some of our beautiful parks and conservation areas receive is saddening.

And it can’t just be one person or one club that can change the course of our world. Everyone has to involve themselves in making a change since so much damage has already been done.

I don’t want to be negative about this in any way. But when I participated yesterday, doing something made me realize the work we need to put in to keep our cities clean and our air fresh and healthy.

On a side note, being environmentally friendly goes into day fourteen of my mental health challenge, MINDFULNESS. And not only do we have to be mindful towards our communities… We also have to mindful of ourselves. I have reflected today on things that bring positivity into my day and I encourage all of you to write down some things that make you happy. Things to keep in mind when working on self-love. Being mindful is such an important aspect to creating a positive space to feel happy and free. To focus on this today contributes to the overall focus on prioritizing our mental health.

I hope you all have a great week:)

STAY KIND:)
