I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that it’s already September and our six-month “summer” or so-called extended leave has come to a halt as I now start my senior year in high school tomorrow. The fact that I am jumping right into my last high school year while adapting to this new method of school is very stressful, but as I always want to make sure this platform is positive, I changed my mind and instead of ranting about potential stresses and negatively thinking about all the things that could go wrong, I am going to set some goals for myself this month, to keep my mind intact and my mindset a little more organized and at ease. Hopefully, this inspires you to create some short-term goals as well or guide you in your understanding during these confusing times.
I want to start incorporating more monthly planning into my life because it always seems to bring more satisfaction when I complete any task and it really motivates me to be more productive as well as have fun!
- Finish 1 Book: I recently went to Indigo and totally got so mesmerized by all the books. After a while, I finally gave in to buying a couple books and really wanted to motivate myself to read more. I always hear about these amazing novels and the emotions felt with reading them and I used to get through series in less than a month, but while reading is very therapeutic, with my busy schedule it is so hard to find the time, so I owe it to myself to self-care and find time for myself, without my phone to distract me and just read for a sense of relief.
- Try A New Recipe: I know I have already done this but it was so fun to try and review a recipe I have never made before, and I want to continue that, to expand my abilities and develop more creativity when baking.
- Mindfulosophy: I have this amazing book from lululemon that I have started going through that involves self-reflection and some meditation tips and it is so nice to take the time to reflect on myself and enjoy some small peaceful moments throughout the week to remind myself that it is okay to take breaks and work on my mental health.
- New Hiking Spot: I LOVE hiking and taking a break from the city and life stresses to clear my head so this month as the weather will be perfect, I want to find a new hiking route, long or short and experience some new scenery while enjoying time outside.
- Reaching Out: As school starts tomorrow like I’ve mentioned, it’s going to be an extremely confusing adjustment but as a student one of the biggest lessons I have learned is to ask questions to clarify and understand topics, which I have never been super great at sticking to. So for this month, I am focusing on this right from the start, to get into the routine of reaching out for help and to really strive to understand everything I can to prepare for this adjustment.
Monthly goals are really amazing at putting my life and path into perspective and I definitely recommend trying it out sometime for some guidance! Thanks for reading this week’s blog and happy start of school to all students!
