Mental Health Weekend Bucket List

HAPPY SUNDAY!

As part of mental health month, this week I am going to write out a bucket list for a weekend.

You can pick and choose what you want to accomplish and when you want to accomplish them, but these are not only to improve your mental wellbeing, but these are daily practices that you can use to boost your mood, confidence, and interest in more self-care!

#1 DAILY JOURNAL/AFFIRMATIONS

This is something that I, myself have to start working on. Even just taking out a random piece of paper and finding one journal prompt will start challenging your mind to reflect on ideas that maybe you push aside often. Opening your mind to these thought-provoking questions is a really good step to relieving stress and being mindful of your actions.

#2 DAILY WALKS

I have made it my goal to walk every day. Even if it is just for 15 minutes, this clears my mind every single time. I either listen to a podcast or one of my playlists and just walk with no intention of making a plan of where to go. It gets me out of the house and it’s nice to just fully immerse myself in nature and take in what’s around me.

#3 STRENGTHS

By this, I mean do something that you are good at. This will boost some self-confidence while allowing you to learn that you are capable of accomplishing anything. If you have pushed aside something you just don’t want to complete, maybe doing something that makes you smile will help motivate you towards trying. For me, my go-to is baking. I don’t have to think about it and I can just mindfully work at it and then realize that I am ready to clean or tackle something I have procrastinated.

#4 EXPERIMENT

Try something new. Whether it is a new project, new recipe, new skill… Being able to challenge your creative side will overall boost your wellbeing and confidence with accomplishing some goals.

#5 EAT THAT CHOCOLATE

I just read that apparently there are some ingredients in chocolate that work together that overall boost your alertness and mental skills. So even though you may feel guilty when treating yourself, remember that you are improving your well-being!

#6 SPEND TIME WITH YOUR PETS

I remember when my school used to bring in dogs during exam week and I understand now that they were to reduce stress. There is something about petting a dog or being around other pets that relieve all this unknown stress. It just boosts my happiness being around my dog.

#7 SPREAD LOVE

Spend time reaching out to a friend, building relationships that are strong. Letting those special people around you know that you are present. Even if it may seem hard, healthy and happy relationships will improve your wellbeing.

#8 SHOW SOME KINDNESS

I keep this in mind every day because I’ve realized that just small moments can make someone’s day. Hyping someone up on social media, reaching out, smiling, saying hi, waving at someone. I can tell you that they may proceed with a boost of serotonin. AND DON’T FORGET TO BE KIND TO YOURSELF TOO.

I really encourage you to try some of these because I promise that even though you may feel completely slumped, these small impacts will improve your day!

STAY KIND!
