Yoga Joy

Another fact about me: I love being active!

SO, for this week, I wanted to share my first thoughts on exercising to feel your best self!

Since quarantine had started, I decided with all the time I had, I wanted to take up a new hobby. With that being said, I had always wanted to get into a yoga practice and finally decided that this was the time! The first time I tried it, I enjoyed every single moment! I have never felt more in a mode of relaxation and at the same time, I was feeling motivated and energized to accomplish anything. For the next months, every day I would practice yoga, for a short period, about 20-30 minutes a day, trying new youtube routines and strengthening my body and mind.

I have found that there are so many benefits when it comes to practicing yoga. Some of them I had learned from self-realization and others I had heard about from different online sources. None the less, only positive impacts come from this practice.

This includes:

  • Deep strengthening and toning of muscles
  • Improved energy
  • Improved flexibility and balance
  • Development of breathing control
  • Reduces stress (for me, this was the biggest positive factor)
  • Increased mood (more relaxed, happy)
  • Increases confidence and self-motivation

I will say in one way or another, I have experienced each of these positives and have never felt more energized and happy with how my overall mental wellness has been considering I continue to accomplish goals and am still feeling my best self (most of the time!).

This week, along with my experience with yoga, I also wanted to share some of my favourite videos that I have been practicing to help me feel the best version of myself.

Yoga with Adriene is a youtube channel run by Adriene Mishler who has created amazing yoga practice videos for all moods and goals. From deep stretching and strengthening to short vinyasa yoga, whatever you want to target, she has a video for it! I was inspired to try her videos from my phys. ed teacher and have not regretted trying it since!

With that being said, here are a few of my favourite videos to get you started on your yoga journey!

30 minute targeted yoga
13 minute core yoga
20 minute energizing yoga (By far my favourite video for energy)

Thank you for tuning into this week’s blog and I hope that you decide to try out one of these videos and enjoy practicing yoga!
